ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman
Catherine Trevors netted her sixth goal of the season in Dartmouth's 5-1 loss to No. 4 Cornell at Lynah Rink on Friday afternoon.
Her tally was assisted on by senior
Bailee Brekke and sophomore
Lotti Odnoga. In net, freshman
Hannah Humphreys had 32 saves.
Although the shots were a little lopsided, the Big Green were keeping up with the Big Red in the first period and doing a great job at keeping the puck out of the net. At 13:28, after two big saves by Humphreys, Cornell (15-1-2, 9-0-2) was able to get one past her to take a 1-0 lead into the intermission. The Dartmouth (5-10-3, 2-7-3) rookie was excellent, stopping 15 shots in the first 20 minutes.
The Big Red controlled play in the second. A trio of Cornell tallies scored in a nine-minute span made it a four-goal game.
After another marker was scored for the home team early in the third, Trevors got one on the board at 6:17 to spoil netminder Lindsay Browning's shutout. When Brekke's shot was blocked, the rebound was sent directly to Trevors, whose shot was initially saved but still trickled past Browning. Neither team was able to get past the goalies again in the last 13 minutes of the game.
Dartmouth will be back in action at 3 p.m. on Saturday against Colgate.
