WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Dartmouth women's tennis team was defeated by William & Mary by a score of 5-2 in its first of two matches in Virginia.
The Tribe were victorious at the No. 2 doubles, but
Nicole Conard and
Abigail Chiu followed that up with a 7-6(3) win at the top spot. The match on court three was very close, but W&M (3-0) walked away with a 7-6(4) win to take the first point.
Tribe victories at the No. 3, 2, 4 and 6 singles positions gave the home team a 5-0 lead, but Dartmouth (2-2) did not stop fighting.
Chidimma Okpara had a 6-2, 6-4 defeat of Charlotte Madson on court five, while Conard won at the No. 1 position after her opponent had to retire in the third-set tiebreaker.
The Big Green will face Old Dominion at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
