Tanner Cross and Sophie Ragg are tops for the Green
This week's athletes of the week are both members of undefeated teams. The Big Green football team ran its record to 3-0 with a win on the road at Ivy rival Penn. Fifth-year senior Tanner Cross had an interception against the Quakers leading to the final Dartmouth touchdown of the game. Senior Sophie Ragg from Wilsborough Green in the United Kingdom had two tries in a women's rugby win over Sacred Heart.

Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Â
Â
Â
Sophie Ragg, Sr. Wilsborough Green, England, F, Women's Rugby
Â
Senior Sophie Ragg had her first two-try game since her freshman year, helping Dartmouth improve to 4-0 and defeat Sacred Heart by a score of 63-10. The Big Green wasted no time, getting on the board 41 seconds in with Ragg's third try of the season. Her second try of the game came in a six-minute scoring blitz with Dartmouth scoring three times in that span of time.
Â
Tanner Cross, 5th Yr, Fort Smith, Ark., LB, Football
Â
Tanner Cross tied for the team lead with four tackles, a total that is so low because the Dartmouth defense limited Penn to a mere 37 offensive plays (the fewest by an opponent in over 50 years) in a 31-7 Big Green victory on Oct. 1. But the fifth-year senior's biggest play came in the third quarter with Dartmouth holding a 24-7 advantage, leaping to pick off a pass in Big Green territory. That interception set up the final Dartmouth score of the night, essentially sealing the win in the team's Ivy League opener. Cross has done a little bit of everything so far this year — second on the team with 21 tackles, intercepted a pass, broke up another throw, forced a fumble, and hurried the quarterback twice.
