HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth athletics department has announced that the existing FieldTurf surface at Dartmouth Softball Park has been replaced by a new FieldTurf TripleThreat surface this summer.
The new surface is the first artificial turf system designed specifically for softball. The series was developed by testing and analyzing some of the most elite clay, grass and turf facilities in the United States and evaluating such key factors as ball-surface interaction, speed and consistency. Through the use of high-tech motion cameras, FieldTurf's engineers interpreted the data as it relates to three critical performance criteria: ball speed, line and bounce. The results helped design a system that emulated the best performances.
"After reviewing the science behind the new FieldTurf TripleThreat system, we knew it was the right choice for our program," said
Richard Whitmore, Dartmouth Executive Associate Athletics Director. "We've had a great experience with FieldTurf in the past, not only for the Dartmouth Softball Park, but several other facilities on campus as well. Their team is first-class."
FieldTurf is an Official Sponsor of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), and three FieldTurf installations recently were awarded the NFCA'S "2020 Field of the Year" award — North Dakota State (Division I), University of North Georgia (Division II) and Texas Lutheran University (Division III).
"For our team, there is no greater feeling than to be chosen to replace an existing FieldTurf surface," said Eric Daliere, President of Tarkett North America & Tarkett Sports. "It demonstrates that our client had a positive experience throughout the life of the field and that our team was able to properly care for them. We're thrilled to continue our relationship with Dartmouth College."
The project at Dartmouth was executed with FieldTurf's Official Partner, Clark Companies.
