Emma Cunningham and Dame Adelekun are getting it done this week.
East coast athletes are heating up the runway and the hardwood for the Big Green as the temperatures drop in the northeast. Juniors Dame Adelekun and Emma Cunningham are providing support to their respective teams. Adelekun had the first double-double of his career in a win over Brown for the men's basketball team. Cunningham won the triple-jump at a track meet held at Harvard, narrowly missing setting a personal best.
Â
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.

Junior Dame Adelekun played a key role in helping the Dartmouth men's basketball team secure its first Ivy League victory this season by registering his first double-double consisting of 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Seven of those rebounds came at the offensive end, the first time in over six years that a Big Green player hauled in that many on the offensive glass, leading to eight of the team's 14 second-chance points. The 6-8 forward did a little bit of everything on the court as well, dishing out an assist, blocking two shots and stealing the ball another time. Prior to the start of Ivy League play on Jan. 2, Adelekun had scored 18 points in his entire career. In the two conference games thus far, he has scored 25, suddenly becoming a key player at the most opportune time.
