START OF THE HOMESTAND
The Dartmouth women's soccer team begins a four-game homestand this Saturday with an Ivy League matchup against Yale followed by a Monday evening nonconference tilt with Merrimack.
LOOKING BACK TO SUNDAY
The Big Green took on the Princeton Tigers in an Ivy League contest on Sunday after the game was moved from Saturday due to predicted inclement weather. The rain still found its way into the game as it continued to come down for the majority of the 90 minutes of play. Princeton took the win by a score of 2-0.
Charlotte Cyr made a career-high 10 saves during the game, bringing her season total to 58.
THE STATS
Allie Winstanley leads the team in scoring with seven goals while
Aleena Seales and
Aspen Anderson each have three.
Mary Lundregan has a team-high four assists.
Sydney Brown and Winstanley are right behind with three apiece.
Leading from the back is Cyr playing all but nine minutes in goal for Dartmouth. She has made 58 saves with three clean sheets and has a save percentage of .784.
Among the Ivy League, Winstanley is first in goals (7), game-winning goals (4), is second in shots on goal (19) and third in points per game (1.70). Lundregan is tied for second in assists (4). Cyr is first in saves per game (5.80), tied for second in shutouts (3) and is third in save percentage.
SCOUTING YALE
The Bulldogs enter Saturday's contest with a 4-5-1, 1-1-0 record. They were handed a 6-0 loss to Harvard in their previous outing on Saturday, October 1.
Ellie Rappole leads Yale in scoring with three goals through 10 games with six players tied for second with one. Belle Golden has a team-high two assists while five players have one. Maya Bellomo has started all 10 games in goal for the Bulldogs making 57 saves with a .792 save percentage, the second highest among the Ancient Eight.
Yale did pick up a win in their Ivy League opener over the Princeton Tigers on Saturday, September 24. Rappole scored the lone goal of the match in the sixth minute.
The Bulldogs are looking for their first road win of the season as they currently sit 0-5 and have been outscored 15-2.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
The Big Green hold the advantage all-time over Yale with a 22-20-3 record. Dartmouth took the win during the 2021 season at Reese Stadium.
Hannah Curtin netted both goals in the 2-1 victory with the game-winning goal coming in the 88
th minute.
Dartmouth also holds a slight edge at home with a 10-9-1 record including a win in the last time the two sides met at Burnham Field.
Izzy Glennon '22 scored an 87
th minute winner for the 1-0 victory.
Saturday's contest marks the fourth time the two sides have played each other on October 8. Yale has a 2-1 lead on that day after picking up a 1-0 victory at Burnham Field in 2016.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS GAME
On Saturday, the Dartmouth women's soccer team will show their support for Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing shirts with the breast cancer ribbon prior to the start of the game.
SCOUTING MERRIMACK
Merrimack enters Monday's contest with a 6-5-3 record. The Warriors defeated Saint Francis, 4-3, in Northeast Conference action on Thursday evening.
Ella Cormier leads the Warriors in scoring with five goals. Molly Murnane is second with four goals while Jillian Golden and Sydney Haskin have two. Caleigh Christensen has a team-high three assists. There's a six-way tie for second as Lily Morgan, Molly Murnane, Julia Ostermann, Cormier, Golden and Haskin each have two. Morgan has handled the majority of the goalkeeping responsibility this season, starting 13 of 14 games. She has made 71 saves with a save percentage of .780.
Merrimack is currently 2-4-2 in the nonconference portion of their schedule, with Monday's game against the Big Green being their final one of the 2022 season.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE WARRIORS
The Big Green have a 4-0 advantage all-time over the Warriors. The series begun back in 1984 with Dartmouth picking up a 5-0 victory. The Big Green won the matchup the following year by a score of 7-0.
The series was on hold until the 2019 season, their first year back in Division I after making the jump from Division II. The Big Green won that matchup 4-0 on the road before a 2-0 win at Burnham Field in 2021.
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS GAME
On Monday, the Dartmouth women's soccer team joins Dartmouth's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in recognizing World Mental Health Day and celebrating those who support mental health on campus. Resources on campus include the Counseling Center, Student Wellness Center, the Jed Foundation, Student Mental Health Union, Hidden Opponent and Morgan's Message.
