POSTSEASON VOLLEYBALL
No. 4 seed Dartmouth punched its ticket to the Ivy League Tournament weeks ago and now its time to leave it all on the court as the Big Green are set to face No. 1 seed Yale in the second semifinal match, following No. 2 Princeton vs. No. 3 Brown, which is set for 4 p.m.
Â
A SEASON TO REMEMBER
Regardless of any outcomes in the Ivy League Tournament, Dartmouth has proven itself to be a growing force in the Ancient Eight. Eight regular season conference wins was the most for the Big Green since 2015 and the highest total under head coach
Gilad Doron. Dartmouth has finished Ivy League play with seven or more wins only five times since becoming a funded varsity program in 1994, and 2021 and 2022 represent two of those seasons.
Â
FAMILIAR FOES
Dartmouth and Yale, of course, squared off twice during their respective conference slates and the Bulldogs emerged victorious in both. They defeated Dartmouth in four sets on Oct. 8 in Hanover and just this past Friday, were able to do so in three.
Amelia Gibbs has a team-high 15 kills and a .400 hitting percentage between those two matches.
Â
ACES AS THE X-FACTOR
Yale ranks third in the nation in aces per set with 2.16, short of only Lafayette and Delaware State. Dartmouth has kept the Bulldogs under that total between the two matches this season as Yale has 1.71 aces per set between the seven sets in question. The Big Green are 18th in the country in that category with 1.85 aces per set and commit an incredibly low number of errors (101 errors to 152 aces) for a team that, at least by the numbers, you would assume serves quite aggressively. The Big Green have been held to just 0.71 aces per set in seven sets against Yale this season.

BOMI'S BLOCKS
Junior
Bomi Ogunlari is currently tied for the program record for blocks in a single season at 96. Elisa Scudder reached that total in 2013 with 24 solos and 72 assists, and Ogunlari has done so this season with 26 solos and 70 assists. One more block and the Rockwall, Texas native will stand atop the record book. In 2022's first meeting between Dartmouth and Yale, Ogunlari racked up a career-high nine blocks (8A, 2S).
Â
SCOUTING YALE
The Bulldogs rolled through Ivy League play with their only loss coming on the road to Princeton Saturday, Nov. 5 in four sets. The previous night in Philadelphia, Yale went five sets with Penn, who finished last in the Ivy League standings. The eventual No. 1 seed bounced back from that uncharacteristic weekend, though, defeating Dartmouth and Harvard handily in the final matches of the regular season. The Bulldogs feature an impressive defense, which ranks eighth in the nation in opponent hitting percentage (.149). Yale has held opponents under a .100 clip eight times this season.
