HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's squash team battled No. 7 Virginia at the Berry Squash Courts on Saturday. The Big Green received strong outings from
Priya Verma and
Callie Worth, but ultimately fell to the Cavaliers, 7-2.
Priya Verma secured her first win of the 2022-23 season at the No. 5 position against Nicola Tessitore. After exchanging the first two games, Verma battled to take the final two by just two points to clinch a 3-1 win for the Big Green.
Callie Worth won her first match as a member of the Big Green, taking a 3-1 decision over Griffin Dewey. The freshman won three hard fought games, including a 14-12 win in the opening game, to give Dartmouth a win at position No. 8.
At the No. 1 position,
Claire Aube took the first game against Virginia's Meagan Best, 11-8. However, the senior was unable to recapture her momentum in the final three stages of the match, falling in four games.
Aubrey Lennon bounced back after a 11-7 loss in the first game of her match against Julia Curran with an 11-8 win in the second game. Curran took the final two stanzas of the match to secure a win at position No. 7 for Virginia.
The Big Green travel to Medford, Massachusetts for a matchup with Tufts tomorrow at 1 p.m.
