HANOVER, N.H. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its Academic All-District Teams for men's basketball today with Dartmouth forward
Aaryn Rai chosen for the five-man team for District I, which consists of players from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
A neuroscience major with a 3.55 GPA, Rai is among the top 15 in the Ivy League in scoring (11.4 ppg, 13th), rebounding (6.8 rpg, fourth), blocked shots (0.5 per game, sixth) and steals (1.0 per game, 14th). He has scored in double figures 11 times while topping 20 points on three occasions, including a season-high 24 against Quinnipiac. The native of Markham, Ontario, has started the last 61 games for the Big Green and scored 836 points in his career while grabbing 526 rebounds, the latter of which ranks among the top 20 in program history.
Dartmouth has had a player receive this honor for each of its last three seasons (James Foye in both 2018-19 and 2019-20). Rai is one of the three Ivy Leaguers selected for one of the teams this year, joining two Harvard players on the District I squad.
The Big Green (5-15, 2-7 Ivy) next host Cornell (13-8, 5-5 Ivy) and Columbia (4-18, 1-9 Ivy) on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., respectively. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Brett Franklin and Dave Faucher calling the action, and a free audio stream will also be available through DartmouthSports.com featuring Dave Collins and Bill Murphy.
