HANOVER, N.H. — The Ivy League announced its weekly award winners for softball this afternoon, and senior
Brooke Plonka was chosen as the Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Plonka, who hails from Marilla, New York, etched her name in the Big Green record books last week by becoming the first Dartmouth pitcher to throw two no-hitters in career. It was also the eighth in program history as she defeated Brown in the first of three games last weekend by a final of 3-1. The left-hander allowed just two walks and one unearned run while striking out 11 in recording her sixth straight complete-game victory.
Earlier in the week, Plonka outdueled Hartford in a 2-1 triumph, giving up the one run on six hits and one walk while fanning five. By the end of the weekend, Plonka had posted a 2-0 record in three starts with a 1.47 ERA, striking out 22 in 19 innings while holding the opposition to a .185 average. Although she did not get a decision in her other start, the Big Green did win the game, 5-4, and went on to sweep the Bears.
Earning a spot on the weekly honor roll were senior second baseman
Billie McFadyen who hit .500 (9-for-18) with two doubles, two homers and seven RBIs, including a game-tying home run with two outs in the seventh of the 5-4 win; and freshman
Jenna Brown who hit .455 (5-for-11) with two doubles and a walk-off, two-run blast (the first of her career) in the 9-7 series finale against Brown.
Next up for Dartmouth (12-20, 6-3 Ivy) is three-game conference series at Penn (9-23, 5-7 Ivy) on Saturday and Sunday. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
