HANOVER, N.H. — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its all-region teams today, and Dartmouth second baseman
Billie McFadyen was named to the All-Northeast Region Third Team. She was one of seven Ivy Leaguers to earn recognition on one of the regional teams.
McFadyen, the Ivy League Player of the Year, is ranked among the top eight in a number of offensive categories in the Ancient Eight, including triples (4, first), hits (48, second), total bases (73, second), batting (.350, fourth), RBIs (25, fifth), runs (22, sixth), on-base percentage (.408, sixth), slugging (.533, sixth) and stolen bases (8, eighth). The 5-0 senior from Flower Mound, Texas, was also the only middle infielder in the conference to finish the season without an error, spanning 151 chances in the field.
Against just the Ivy League, McFadyen was even better, leading the circuit with 29 hits, three triples and a .476 on-base percentage while hitting .403, one of just two players to top .400. She was also the most difficult hitter to strike out in the league and fanned just once in 72 at-bats against Ivy pitchers.
In a career cut nearly in half by the COVID-19 pandemic, McFadyen started 87 of her 89 games played, hitting .362 for her career over 271 at-bats with 16 doubles, four triples, six home runs, 48 runs and 46 RBIs. She also posted a .424 on-base percentage and .517 slugging percentage while committing just three errors for a .987 field percentage.
McFadyen is the first Big Green all-region player since Micah Schroder was selected for the first team in 2019, and she is the 16th selection ever from Dartmouth.
The Big Green finished the season with a 20-24 record and 14-7 mark in the Ivy League to place third, one game behind second-place Harvard and three behind Princeton.
