LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Dartmouth volleyball team earned the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season. The Big Green have received this honor in each of the six years head coach
Gilad Doron has guided the program, as well as in 10 of the last 11 seasons overall.
Â
A total of 1,213 collegiate and high school teams were recognized for their hard work off the court. Dartmouth ended this season with a 3.576 GPA, including a 3.702 during the spring term, its highest ever.
Â
"I am proud of our team continued commitment for excellence on and off the court," Doron said. "They continue to raise the bar both in the classrooms and in the gym each day and show that DVB student athletes can balance high-rigor academics with a high level of athletic participation along with taking part in Dartmouth community and service."
Â
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
