HANOVER, N.H. – Seven different players scored for the Dartmouth men's hockey team in a 7-2 victory over the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP) in an exhibition on Sunday evening at Thompson Arena.
Holding a one-goal lead heading into the third period, Dartmouth put the game away with four goals in the final frame.
"It was an exciting night here at Thompson," said Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Hockey
Reid Cashman. "For our program, learning how to win is important so that was an important game. The third period in particular, 3-2 going into it, and really doubling down on our habits and doubling down on playing with each other and getting the results we're looking for."
Dartmouth jumped out to an early lead six minutes into the contest when
Nate Morgan fired home the first goal of the evening. The Big Green added to the lead with just under five minutes remaining in the opening period when
Joey Musa ripped a shot past USNTDP goaltender Jack Parsons.
USNTDP cut into the lead inside the first few minutes of the second period, but Dartmouth responded five minutes later when
Braiden Dorfman pounced on a loose puck just outside the crease and tapped it into the net.
The U.S. scored a late power play goal in the middle frame to make it a one-goal game going into the third period.
Sean Chisholm joined in on the fun, scoring just 22 seconds into the third to push the lead back to two. A goal from
Ian Pierce minutes later gave the Big Green a three-goal cushion.
Ryan Sorkin added a short-handed empty net goal later in the period before
John Fusco capped the scoring with a power play goal with under three minutes remaining.
The Big Green outshot USNTDP, 38-20.
