HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth softball head coach
Jen Williams announced the team's 2024 schedule, which includes 34 games and a full 21-game Ivy League slate. The season begins on Feb. 23 with a trip to Athens, Georgia, and the Big Green are first in action at the Dartmouth Softball Park on Tuesday, March 26 when Boston College visits Hanover.
Â
A 10-game nonconference slate features trips to Georgia and Kentucky, and is a prelude to the conference schedule, which begins Saturday, March 23 at defending Ivy League champion Harvard.
Â
The season opener on Feb. 23 pits the Big Green against Radford as part of the Georgia Classic. Two games against Radford precede matchup with Virginia Tech and finally host Georgia, which enters the season coming off an NCAA Super Regional run.
Â
Dartmouth kicks off a six-game slate in Kentucky on March 13, facing Bellarmine and Butler in back-to-back games (both hosted by Bellarmine). The Cardinal Classic, hosted by Louisville, begins March 15 as the Big Green play their first of two games against South Dakota. A pair of Big Ten opponents in Illinois (March 16) and Michigan (March 17) present Dartmouth's final challenges before Ivy League action begins.
Â
After looking for a strong start to conference action with a three-game series at Harvard (March 23-24), Dartmouth returns home to welcome Boston College for the home opener. The Ivy League slate resumes with Yale visiting the Dartmouth Softball Park on March 30-31, the first of two consecutive Ancient Eight series in Hanover. Brown visits the following weekend (April 6-7) before Dartmouth takes a break from conference play to host UMass Lowell on April 9.
Â
The Big Green are on the road for the first time in three weeks when they head to Princeton for the weekend of April 13. The road stretch continues with a nonconference date with Merrimack (April 16). Dartmouth returns for its penultimate home series, which welcomes Cornell starting on April 20. A trip to Penn (April 27-28) follows the Cornell series before the Big Green end the regular season at home, hosting Columbia on May 4 and May 5.
Each home Ivy League series consists of a doubleheader on Saturday with start times of 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. followed by a stand-alone Sunday game at 12:30 p.m.
Â
The Big Green return a pair of 2023 All-Ivy Second Team performers in
Rachel McCarroll and
Kelly Beaupre. McCarroll led the Ancient Eight in innings pitched (175.1) and picked up 10 wins in the circle. Beaupre led all Big Green hitters with a .321 batting average and belted a team-best seven home runs.
