SATURDAY'S REGULAR SEASON FINALE
Dartmouth looks to avenge January's 68-52 loss in Hanover on Saturday when it travels to soon-to-be Ivy League Tournament participant Harvard. The Crimson have dropped three of the last four and look to salvage some momentum heading into Ivy Madness
FINAL GAME FOR THE SENIORS
A home win over Harvard on Jan. 11, 2020 was this four-member group's first Ivy League game and now
Karina Mitchell,
Allie Harland,
Kaiyah Corona and
Emma Koch wrap up their Dartmouth careers with a trip to Harvard as the Big Green look for their first win over the Crimson since that exciting day back in 2020.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth lost to Penn by a final score of 54-37 in its final home game of the season after recognizing its seniors and honoring the No. 20 jersey of Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82. The Big Green were just 1-of-15 from deep, marking the coldest shooting performance of the last eight seasons.
HOT AND COLD
The first time Dartmouth faced Penn, the Big Green shot well from behind the arc and knocked down a season-high 12 3-pointers (12-of-26), but in another go against the Quakers, this time at their own place, a 1-of-15 effort was particularly detrimental on Senior Day. Dartmouth is absolved from the worst shooting performance in the Ivy League this season, though, since Cornell went 0-for-20 in a loss to Brown two weeks prior. Back in December, Dartmouth was 11-of-18 from downtown against Vermont in one of the hottest 3-point shooting performances in the nation at the time.
SCORING IS UP
Record aside, Dartmouth has shown improvement offensively compared to the 2021-22 season. Last year's Big Green squad averaged 47.0 points per game and that has increased to 54.2 this year.
Mia Curtis led the team last season with 6.8 points per game and four players average more this season (
Victoria Page,
Mekkena Boyd,
Grace Niekelski and
Mia Curtis). The better news? None of those four are seniors.
ONE YEAR TO THE DAY
Dartmouth ended the 2021-22 season at Harvard on March 4, 2022 and exactly a year later, the two sides meet again in the regular season finale.
Mekkena Boyd scored a team-high 10 points in that one and in the next meeting on Jan. 16, 2023, the junior paced the Big Green offense once again with 14 in a 68-52 loss.
HARVARD HEADING TO IVY MADNESS
The Crimson will join Princeton, Penn and Columbia in the Ivy League Tournament at Princeton beginning Friday, March 10. Harvard has dropped three of its last four, but has faced a gauntlet that featured each of the three other tournament participants in that stretch. Harvard will be vying for its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007.
ALL-TIME VERSUS HARVARD
Dartmouth is 37-53 against Harvard, dating back to 1976. The Big Green are winless in their last four against the Crimson, but do have a win in 2019-20's conference opener to their credit (63-62 on Jan. 11, 2020). Dartmouth hasn't won in Cambridge since Jan. 23, 2016.
