NFF Hampshire Honor Society Includes 15 Big Green Student-Athletes

HANOVER, N.H. — The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the members of the 2023 NFF Hampshire Honor Society today, and Dartmouth had 15 of its student-athletes selected for inclusion. Dartmouth is one of 23 colleges and universities to have had at least one player earn the honor in all 17 years of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society (2007-23), and the 15 honorees were the fourth-most among all Division I football teams.

The honor society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. They must either be a senior player who will graduate this spring or summer and just completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2022, or a graduated player who has been out of high school for at least three years. A total of 1,745 student-athletes from 328 schools qualified for membership in the society, setting a new record for the number of members in a single year during the program's 17-year history.

The NFF Hampshire Honor Society capitalizes on the NFF's National Scholar-Athlete program by greatly expanding the number of scholar-athletes the NFF can recognize each year. The program further strengthens the organization's leadership role in encouraging academic performance by the student-athletes at the 774 colleges and universities with football programs nationwide.

Founded in 1947 with early leadership from General Douglas MacArthur, Hall of Fame coach (and Dartmouth head coach from 1934-40) Earl "Red" Blaik and immortal journalist Grantland Rice, the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame is a non-profit educational organization that runs programs designed to use the power of amateur football in developing scholarship, citizenship and athletic achievement in young people. With 120 chapters in 47 states, NFF programs include the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, the William V. Campbell Trophy, the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class and a series of initiatives to honor the legends of the past and inspire the leaders of the future.

Notes: The Division I schools with more than Dartmouth's 15 were Harvard (27), Cal (18) and Brown (18).
