HANOVER, N.H. — It was a storybook finish for the Dartmouth women's tennis seniors as the Big Green earned a 4-3 victory over Penn, capped by
Chidimma Okpara's clutch performance at the No. 1 singles position, on Sunday afternoon at Alexis Boss Tennis Center.
Emily Zhou and
Lexi Dewire set the tone for a strong doubles effort with their quick triumph on Court 3 before Okpara and
Ashley Hess clinched the point on Court 1. The Quakers battled back in singles and with the match teetering on a 3-3 tie with only the top court left to finish, Okpara answered the call with a two-set, match-sealing victory.
Brooke Hess and
Lexi Dewire helped the Big Green fend off the Quaker surge, winning on Courts 5 and 6, respectively. Hess stormed back after dropping the first set to claim what would end up being a key three-set win.
Seniors Okpara, Zhou and
Ashley Hess were honored prior to the match. The Big Green finished the season with a 5-14 overall record and a 1-6 mark in the Ivy League.
