Green-White Spring Game Brings an End to Spring Practice

HANOVER, N.H. — Dylan Cadwallader completed 26-of-38 attempts for 142 yards including a five-yard TD throw to tight end Sean Harmon, and Jackson Proctor hit on 22-of-31 passes for 152 yards as Dartmouth concluded spring practice Saturday morning with the Green-White scrimmage.

Using a scoring system that awarded the offense six points for a touchdown and two points for 20-plus yard "chunk" plays, and the defense six points for a takeaway, three for a sack, two for a pass breakup and one for a "forced" three-and-out, the defense emerged "victorious," 29-28.

With Nick Howard sitting out the scrimmage due to illness, Cadwallader, who will be a senior in the fall, and Proctor, a rising junior, split all the snaps as the Big Green ran 106 plays.

A total of 17 players caught passes with freshman Daniel Haughton unofficially making six grabs for 37 yards and classmate Grayson O'Bara pulling in five for 40 yards.

Tailback Joey Richmond added five catches for 25 yards while Isaac Boston, Painter Richards-Baker and tailback Christian Benson had four apiece.

Benson was the busiest running back of the game carrying eight times for 21 yards. Q Jones added seven runs for 21 yards and Richmond six for 33 to go with his handful of catches.

With officials blowing plays dead, linebacker Braden Mullen had eight "tackles," including a sack while defensive back Onye Ouoha had seven stops. Safety Sam Koscho, who missed last year with injury, had two pass breakups in addition to three tackles.

Acting head coach Sammy McCorkle liked what he saw.

"I think the offense came out ready to play and did what they needed to do," he said. "They took what the defense gave them and did a really good job controlling the ball and working it down the field in the first half.

"The defense came out a little bit on their heels, but in the second half, they got a little energy going and a little edge going. They went after the offense."

McCorkle called the scrimmage, "definitely another step in the right direction."

CAPTAINS
Fifth-year seniors Nick Howard and Quinten Arello will reprise their roles as captains this fall and will be joined by running back Tevita Moimoi and linebacker Macklin Ayers, rising seniors.

"The players did a good job voting," said McCorkle. "It's a good mix of two old captains and two new captains, two on offense and two on defense. All four of them were unanimous and they each bring something different. I'm super proud of them."

MOST IMPROVED
As is the case each year, Dartmouth coaches selected the most improved players in their "rooms," and those players were recognized at halftime. Honored were:
