PRINCETON, N.J. — Wet conditions in the Garden State were not enough to hold the Dartmouth men's soccer team back, as the Big Green opened Ivy League action with a 2-1 victory over Princeton. Dartmouth overcame an early deficit, scoring two unanswered goals to secure a hard-fought win.
Douglas Arveskär and
Sam Fenton each found the back of the net for Dartmouth (3-3-1, 1-0-0 Ivy League), while
Trenton Blake and
Kristian Feed recorded assists.
Junior goalkeeper battled the weather at Class of 1952 Stadium to make five crucial saves, keeping his team in the game with timely stops. The Big Green knocked off Princeton for the first time since 2019 and picked up their first road Ivy League win since Nov. 13, 2021.

Bo Oshoniyi said. "I hope this is a building block. Any time you can win on the road in the Ivy League is tough. To try to be Ivy League champs, we're going to have to win on the road. For us to take this step in the right direction is huge for the guys."
How it happened:
The Tigers challenged Dartmouth's defense early in the contest, as Christodoulou made a pair of stops in the opening nine minutes. However, Princeton found the back of the net in the ninth minute to take an early 1-0 advantage.
Arveskär tested Princeton keeper Khamari Hadaway in the 13
th minute, but Dartmouth's first shot on goal was turned aside. Senior captain
Tom Collins first a shot on goal of his own less than two minutes later but could not find the equalizer.
The Big Green and Tigers played even soccer throughout the middle stages of the half. Both teams managed to put a shot on net but could not alter the scoreboard.
Dartmouth broke through in the 27
th minute, as the Big Green created an opportunity with stellar passing.
Orrett Maine sent a ball the length of the field, which was headed to Blake by Arveskär. Blake returned the ball to the native of Stockholm, Sweden, who fired a shot past the goalkeeper to score his third of the season.
The rest of the first half featured little offense, as the game entered halftime with a 1-1 score.
The Big Green took their first lead of the contest in the 69
th minute, as Feed created offense off a broken corner kick opportunity. Feed corralled the ball outside of the 18-yard box following a corner and whipped the ball toward the net, which was headed into the goal by Fenton, who has two goals in his last three games.
Dartmouth held off Princeton's attack for the rest of the contest as the Tigers tried to find the equalizer. Chippy play from both sides closed the game, but the Big Green were able to hold on to its lead and the crucial victory.
