NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Despite outshooting the Bulldogs, 29-28, the Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to Yale, 5-0, in ECAC Hockey and Ivy League action on Friday evening at Ingalls Rink.
The Big Green fall to 4-5-6, 2-2-4 while the Bulldogs improve to 7-9-0, 5-5-0.
Yale scored midway through the opening period to take 1-0 lead off a goal from Ian Carpentier. The Bulldogs added their second goal of the night with just under one minute remaining to push the lead to two.
Dartmouth nearly cut into the deficit inside the first minute of the middle frame. The Big Green forced a turnover in the Yale defensive zone.
Cam MacDonald passed the puck towards the right to
Joey Musa for the one-timer, but the shot was saved by goaltender Jack Stark.
The Bulldogs tallied three more goals in the second period, including one short-handed goal and one on the power play, to extend the lead.
Dartmouth had numerous chances to get on the board during the period, due in-large part to several power play opportunities, including a 5v3 after Yale received a five-minute major followed by a holding penalty shortly after.
The Big Green outshot the Bulldogs, 11-3, over the final 20 minutes of play, and held the edge in faceoffs over the course of the game, winning 36 to Yale's 26.
Dartmouth looks to bounce back tomorrow evening on the road at Brown. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Meehan Auditorium and the game will be available to stream nationally on ESPN+ and internationally on Stretch Internet.
