BACK TO CONFERENCE PLAY
The Dartmouth men's hockey team returns to ECAC Hockey action this weekend with trips to Yale and Brown. The Big Green take on the Bulldogs in New Haven on Friday evening before playing the Bears on Saturday in Providence.
RIVALRY WIN
The Big Green ended the non-conference portion of the schedule this weekend with a 4-3 win over twin-state rival Vermont in front of a sold-out crowd at Thompson Arena.
Ian Pierce lit the lamp twice, including the game-winner, while
Sean Chisholm and
Alex Krause each found the back of the net.
John Fusco picked up two assists with
Matt Fusco,
Nikita Nikora,
Braiden Dorfman,
Nate Morgan and
Cooper Black each registering one.
Black made 25 saves to earn his fourth win of the year and the Dartmouth defense blocked a total of 23 shots.
THE STATS
Nikora leads the team with 13 points after scoring two goals along with 11 assists through 14 games. He ranks fifth in the league in assists per game with .79.
The Big Green rank eighth in Division I in penalty killing percentage at .860.
Blocking shots has been key for Dartmouth, having blocked 187 shots this season.
Eric Charpentier leads the way with 23.
Black ranks 13
th nationally in save percentage at .919.
WEEKLY AWARDS
After his two goals in the victory over Vermont, Pierce was named the ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week. It's the first weekly honor for Pierce in his collegiate career, and it is the fifth weekly award that the Big Green have earned this season.
SCOUTING YALE
Yale comes into Friday's matchup with a 6-9-0 overall and a 4-5-0 record in league play. The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend sweep of Rensselaer (2-1) and Union (4-2).
David Chen leads Yale in points (13) and assists (7) and is tied for first in goals with six. Briggs Gammill also has six goals to his name while Niklas Allain, Rhys Bentham and Ian Carpentier each have four. Ryan Conroy and Teddy Wooding both sit second on the team in assists with six.
Nathan Reid and Jack Stark have split time between the pipes this season, with each appearing in nine games. They have combined to make 379 saves with a save percentage of .877.
The Big Green have won the last four meetings against the Bulldogs, including a three-game sweep last season, outscoring them by a score of 14-3. Yale leads the all-time series, 116-101-15.
SCOUTING BROWN
Brown enters the weekend with a 5-10-1, 3-6-0 record and will play Harvard on Friday night. The Bears had a split weekend in their last time out, defeating Union in overtime before falling to Rensselaer.
The Bears are led by Max Scott and Ryan St. Louis, who both have 15 points. Scott has a team-high 10 assists to go along with five goals while St. Louis has nine goals with six assists. Ryan Bottrill has eight assists and Ethan Mistry has seven.
Lawton Zacher has started 12 games in net for the Bears this season. He has made 276 saves and boasts a .908 save percentage.
Dartmouth is 86-71-9 all-time against Brown and went 1-0-1 in last season's series. The two teams skated to a 2-2 tie in the first matchup, with the Big Green winning the ensuing shootout. Dartmouth then went on to win the contest in Providence in late January, 4-3.
