PRINCETON, N.J. – The Dartmouth women's soccer program hosted Brown for Senior Day on Burnham Field Saturday afternoon.
Hannah Curtin scored the lone goal of the game to give the Big Green a 1-0 victory.
With the win, the Big Green conclude the season at 7-6-3 overall and 1-4-2 in Ivy League play.
Brown recorded 11 shots in the first half while Dartmouth recorded two. Brown goalkeeper Gurleen Toor made two clutch saves to keep the score even going into halftime.
Daisy Granholm sent a header over a Brown defender that found Curtin streaking toward the goal. Curtin ripped a shot from right outside the box that found the back left side of the net in the 85
th minute giving Dartmouth the 1-0 lead.
The Big Green recorded five shots in the second half and the Bears had six. Dartmouth's goalkeeper
Emily Hardy made a total of four saves while Toor also made four.
"I'm so proud of the girls for their effort in the game today, obviously to upset Brown who is going to be the three seed in the Ivy League tournament is a huge result for us," Stacy Branca '94 Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer
Taylor Schram said after the game.
The last time the Big Green defeated Brown was also on Burnham Field, back in 2018.
" It's a great team, a lot of athleticism, they pose a lot of challenges so for our girls to respond after the halftime talk and come out and really put them on their heels, create some chances, and finally get the goal we've been looking for is something I'm really proud of and I'm so happy for them and the seniors that we get to send them off," Schram said.
While the Big Green's 2024 season comes to a close, Schram is happy with the progress her team made over the past 16 games.
"As far as the season's concerned, we're not content with where we finish but really happy with the progress that we're seeing in the way that we want to play," Schram said. "Progress isn't linear so we're still setting the foundation and setting the building blocks in place but we're happy with the progress we've made in terms of being able to keep the ball and play a possession brand. But obviously more results will come we just have to stay the course and continue to build so happy overall."
