Dartmouth had nine first-team honorees and six named honorable mention
HANOVER, N.H. — Fifteen members of the Dartmouth football team were recognized as All-Ivy honorees on Tuesday, with Owen Zalc also being named the Ivy League's Special Teams Player of the Year and Ejike Adele garnering Academic All-Ivy as well. The Big Green placed a league-high nine members on the first team, with six garnering honorable mention recognition. The nine first teamers mark Dartmouth's most since 2014.
Â
Zalc received the major award, Ivy Special Teams Player of the Year, after following up a stellar rookie campaign with an even better sophomore season. He finished the year 13-of-17 on field goals, with impressive range. Zalc knocked through a program-record 54-yard field goal against Harvard. At Merrimack, he had a 50-yarder, while also converting the game-winning 32-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to wrap up a hard-fought 16-14 win. Also a first team All-Ivy honoree for a second straight season, Zalc was named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week three times this season — following that Merrimack win, the following week after Penn and after the record kick against the Crimson.
Â
Two Dartmouth offense linemen were named first team All-Ivy, with Kyle Brown and Delby Lemieux earning the distinction. Both were named honorable mention All-Ivy a season ago. As a unit, the Big Green offensive line impressed in 2024, finishing top 20 nationally in fewest sacks allowed while finishing third in the Ivy League in rushing offense (166.5 yards per game). They helped pave the way for running back Q Jones, who was named first team All-Ivy as well.
Â
An honorable mention All-Ivy honoree last season, Jones enjoyed a career year, rushing for 711 yards on 162 carries (4.4 yards per carry). He was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week after a monster effort at Columbia when he ran for 182 yards on 19 carries (9.6 average), 123 of those yards coming in the third quarter. That week, Jones was the Division I recipient of the New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award, as the Big Green picked up a big win against the Lions in a battle of undefeated teams in the Ivy League. Jones also ran for 101 yards on 22 carries in the league-opening win over Penn, while he finished with 86 yards against Fordham and 84 at Yale. Jones had four touchdowns on the season, three rushing (vs. Fordham, at Yale and at Columbia) and one receiving (against Fordham). Jones finished his career with 1,728 rush yards, which is good for eighth in program history.
Â
Also on the first team offense was tight end Chris Corbo, who led the Big Green with seven touchdown receptions this season — most by a Dartmouth player since Drew Estrada had eight in 2019. His 32 receptions were second on the team, while his 315 yards were third. Corbo had a touchdown in seven of the 10 games in a remarkably consistent season. His career high for receptions came at Princeton (8) with his career high for yards coming against Penn (seven catches for 51 yards). His seven receiving touchdowns are good for 35th nationally and fifth in the Ivy League. It's also second in the nation amongst tight ends, while his 1.4 touchdowns per game lead the country amongst his position.
Â
Defensive linemen Ejike Adele and Josiah Green were both named first team All-Ivy, with Green being a unanimous choice. Adele led the Big Green in both sacks (6.0) and tackles-for-loss this season (12.0) while his 54 tackles were tied for second on the team. He had some huge games, including at Columbia while he finished with nine tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks. At Princeton, he had 10 tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks. Adele finished third in the Ivy League in sacks, while leading the league in tackles-for-loss (which was also good for 23rd nationally). He was also named the Big Green's Academic All-Ivy as a biology major.
Â
Green enjoyed a career season as well, improving from his second team All-Ivy league season in 2023. His 49.0 tackles this year were tied for fourth on the Big Green, while he was second on the team in tackles-for-loss (9.0) and third in sacks (3.0). Green was consistent all season, recording five or more tackles on six occasions while adding at least 0.5 tackles-for-loss in eight of the 10 contests.
Braden Mullen was a first team All-Ivy honoree at linebacker after garnering honorable mention recognition last season. He finished the 2024 season second on the Big Green in sacks with five and third with 7.5 tackles-for-loss. He also added 30 tackles, five pass breakups, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Mullen recorded two sacks, two tackles-for-loss and a season-high six tackles at Columbia, along with a pass breakup. He also had sacks against Fordham, Penn and Harvard.
Jordan Washington rounded out the Big Green's first team honorees on defense. He led Dartmouth with 11 pass breakups, while adding 30 tackles, including 2.5 tackles-for-loss. He had a pick-six in the season finale against Brown, going 58 yards the other way. Washington was named Ivy League Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts, also garnering Special Teams Player of the Week following the Fordham win. Washington blocked a pair of field goals this season, against Fordham and Central Connecticut State, returning the blocked kick for a touchdown against the Rams.
Nick Marinaro was named honorable mention All-Ivy at offensive lineman, as one of three Big Green starting O lineman recognized. The center, Marinaro was also a key part of a Dartmouth unit that finished top 20 nationally in fewest sacks allowed, while coming in third in the Ivy League in rushing offense.
Â
Despite missing the final four games of the season due to injury, Paxton Scott led the Big Green in receptions (34) and earned honorable mention All-Ivy honors. His 411 yards were also second on the team. In Ivy League play, Scott had a 10-catch game against Penn (for 75 yards) and a 100-reception game a week later at Yale (on six receptions). He began the season with six receptions for 121 yards against Fordham. Scott tallied 165 receptions for 1,937 yards and 10 touchdowns in his career, finishing fourth in program history for catches and seventh in yards.
Â
Four Big Green received honorable mention recognition on defense. Included was Derrell Porter, who ended the year with a career-high 34 tackles, including 6.0 tackles-for-loss as a force on a defensive line that was full of All-Ivy honorees (with Green and Adele alongside him). Porter tallied six tackles at Yale, including 1.5 tackles-for-loss as part of the Big Green's comeback victory.
Â
Linebackers Micah Green and Danny Cronin were both honorable mention All-Ivy as well. For Green, it marks the first-career All-Ivy honor while for Cronin, it's his second straight honorable mention recognition. Green had a breakout season, leading the Big Green in tackles (76) while adding 3.5 tackles-for-loss, two sacks, an interception and forced fumble. He tallied double-figure tackles in four games, three of which were against Ivy League foes. Green also had seven tackles against Brown, eight vs. Harvard and nine at Merrimack. He had his first-career interception at Cornell while recovering a fumble against Harvard.
Â
Meanwhile, Cronin's 54 tackles were second on the team, while he added four tackles-for-loss, one sack, an interception and fumble recovery. Cronin's best games came in Ivy League contests, including in the season finale vs. Brown when he tallied a season-high nine tackles. He also posted eight tackles and a fumble recovery at Yale. Cronin's best game came in a big road win at Columbia, when he finished with nine tackles, a forced fumble and interception. Cronin began the season with two tackles-for-loss and a sack in Dartmouth's dominant win over Fordham. In the end, all three of Dartmouth's starting defensive linemen and all three linebackers were named All-Ivy.
Â
Williams rounds out the Big Green's honorable mention honorees, marking the second straight season he's been named All-Ivy (garnering second team last season as a defensive back and return specialist). This year, Williams recorded 40 tackles, a tackle-for-loss and interception. One of his best statistical games was at Cornell when he finished with seven tackles, a tackle-for-loss and interception. He also had eight tackles in the win at Merrimack while recording six at Yale. Williams was a key punt returner as well, with 10 returns on the season, highlighted by a 26-yard return against Central Connecticut State to put the Big Green in prime field position.
Â
With Saturday's 56-28 win over Brown, the Big Green wrapped up their fourth Ivy League Championship in the last five seasons on Saturday, and their Ivy record 22nd all-time. Dartmouth finished the season 8-2, 5-2 in league play.
