The Big Green have beaten Navy in back-to-back seasons

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Dartmouth women's basketball team opened a double-figure fourth-quarter lead before holding off a late Navy to charge to beat the Midshipmen, 61-58 in overtime on Wednesday evening inside Alumni Hall. One game after scoring 25 points, Victoria Page finished with a career-high 26 — 10 of which came in the first quarter and 17 of which were in the first half.
 Alexandra Eldredge added 10 points, good for her Dartmouth career high, all coming after halftime. Zanai Barnett-Gay led Navy with 26 points.

The win came over a Navy team that entered 6-2 on the season. It came in the Big Green's first road game of the year, marking the first time since the 2019-20 season that Dartmouth won its road opener.

FIRST QUARTER: 
Neither team led by more than one possession until more than eight minutes into the game.
Page was the story for Dartmouth as she scored all 10 of the Big Green's first-quarter points.
Page had eight points before the game was three minutes old. The Big Green were held scoreless for the next 7:45, but Page ended the first quarter with a short jumper to pull within 13-10 after one quarter of play.
Make that two straight quarters with double figure points for Victoria Page, who had 10 in the first after 14 in the fourth on Sunday.

SECOND QUARTER:
Page scored seven more second-quarter points as Dartmouth held an 11-4 edge in the stanza.
The Big Green began the quarter on an 8-0 run as a Page 3-pointer made the score 18-13, forcing a Navy timeout with 4:30 on the second-quarter clock.
Dartmouth held Navy scoreless for the first 6:20 of the quarter.
The Big Green were held without a field goal for the final 4:30 of the quarter, but held Navy to just 9.1% shooting in the second to take a 21-17 halftime lead.
THIRD QUARTER:
Both offenses caught fire in the third, with the Big Green holding a 22-18 edge in that stanza.
Three different Dartmouth players tallied five or more points in the period: Page (7), Eldredge (6) and Cate MacDonald (5).
Navy pulled within two in the opening seconds of the third quarter, then the margin remained at two or less until more than midway through. That stretch featured two ties and five lead changes.
With the score tied at 30, MacDonald scored five straight points — behind a 3-pointer and fastbreak layup — to put the Big Green up 35-30, a lead that would only get larger as the quarter progressed.
Two Page free throws with 19 seconds on the clock gave Dartmouth a 43-35 lead after 45 minutes of play.
FOURTH QUARTER:

An Eldredge jumper gave the Big Green a 46-36 lead with 8:44 on the fourth-quarter clock.
Navy responded with seven straight points to take a 46-43 lead with 5:50 left in regulation.
Zeynep Ozel scored five points in the span of 36 seconds to put the Big Green ahead, 53-48, with 3:15 remaining.
However, Navy scored the final five points of regulation to force overtime. The Mids had a chance to win in the final seconds, but Dartmouth's defense forced a missed shot from Barnett-Gay.
OVERTIME:
MacDonald opened the scoring 1:05 into the overtime period, and the Big Green wouldn't trail.
The lead reached as much as six following a Page layup with 1:04 remaining.
Navy fought back to as close as two, and had a chance to tie or take the lead, but a Barnett-Gay jumper wouldn't fall, Olivia Austin grabbed the rebound then hit a free throw for the 61-58 final.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dartmouth shot 34.8% (23-of-66) from the floor and 23.8% from 3-point range (5-of-21).
Navy finished at 25.6% (21-of-82), including 21.7% from behind the arc (5-of-23).
The Big Green held Navy to its lowest percentage from the floor (25.6) since shooting 24.6% at Penn State on Nov. 10, 2023.
Dartmouth held Navy to its lowest shooting percentage at home since the Mids shot 21.2% against Boston University on Dec. 30, 2022.
The win was the Big Green's third straight over Navy overall, including in back-to-back seasons.
MacDonald narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds and a career-high 10 rebounds.
Austin did the same, tallying eight points and 10 boards, the second 10-rebound game of her young career.
Page has led Dartmouth in scoring five of the first six games of the season.
Page played all 45 minutes on Wednesday, which marked a career high.
Navy held a 63-53 edge in rebounds. The Big Green's 53 rebounds marked their most against a Division I opponent in at least the last 10 seasons.
