Blake and Jones are this week’s stellar athletes
HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's and women's track and field programs competed against the other Ivies this past weekend at the 2024 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships. J'Voughnn Blake and Jada Jones performed at a high level over the course of the weekend, earning huge points for the Big Green in the overall standings.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athlete – one male, one female – as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
J'Voughnn Blake, So., Kingston, Jamaica, Men's Track and Field
Blake finished second in two different events on Sunday for the Big Green, earning 16 points in the team standings. In the 800m race, he finished with a time of 1:49.11, the second-fastest time in the event in program history. He also ran a leg in the distance medley relay, helping Dartmouth to a second-place finish with a time of 9:56.74.
Jada Jones, So., Rock Hill, S.C., Women's Track and Field
The sophomore put in a strong performance over the weekend, earning third place in two different events. Jones finished third in the 400m race with a personal best time of 54.17, the second-fastest time in program history. She also competed in the distance medley relay, helping the Big Green to a third-place finish with a time of 11:34.84.
