IRVINE, Calif. — The Dartmouth women's tennis team is back in the win column after defeating UC Irvine by a score of 6-1 on Friday in its first match of its spring break trip to California. The Big Green dropped the doubles point, but were unbeaten in singles to comfortably capture their fifth win of the season and even their record at 5-5.
Lexi Dewire and
Elizabeth Fahrmeier cruised to a 6-2 victory on Court 1, but the Anteaters fought back with wins on Courts 2 and 3 to hand Dartmouth an early deficit.
Michela Moore's victory at No. 2 singles evened the score and
Brooke Hess gave the Big Green a 2-1 lead with a two-set triumph on Court 6. Fahrmeier extended the Dartmouth advantage on Court 5 and
Peyton Capuano delivered the clincher at the No. 1 position, defeating Jenna Schlatter in straight sets. Dewire then won a three-setter and
Caroline Lemcke emerged victorious in a super tiebreak to complete the singles sweep.
The Big Green's California slate continues on Saturday, March 16 with a match against Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 5:30 p.m. EST (2:30 p.m. PST).
