IVY LEAGUE PLAY BEGINS
The Big Green head to Harvard for the first Ivy League series of the season after 10 non-conference games, including four against Power Five opponents and two against ranked teams (No. 21 Virginia Tech and No. 3 Georgia).
Â
HALL RANKS AMONG THE NATION'S BEST
First-year pitcher has provided several of the highlights of the Big Green's season so far, including an 11-strikeout, complete-game shutout of South Dakota during the Louisville Classic. Hall currently ranks eighth in the nation, and leads the Ivy League, in strikeouts per seven innings (10.2)
Â
SCOUTING HARVARD
The Crimson off to an 0-3 start in the Ivy League after being swept at Yale last weekend. Harvard won eight of its first nine to start the season, including an 8-2 win over Iowa, but has since lost nine of its last 10. The Crimson, led by Riley Flynn's 2.02 earned run average and four wins in the circle, lead the Ivy League in ERA. At the plate, reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week Sophie Sun leads the Crimson with a .373 batting average, four home runs and 10 RBIs.
Â
BIG GREEN BY THE NUMBERS
Ashley Frantz leads Dartmouth offensively with a .360 batting average, and first-year
Olivia Schramm has a team-best six RBIs.
Allie Ohde has the Big Green's lone home run. In the circle,
Jensin Hall has a 4.28 earned run average and 50 strikeouts through 34.1 innings pitched.
Rachel McCarroll, who was the go-to in 2023, has a win and a save to her credit, and recently tossed a one-hit gem to blank Bellarmine.
Â
LOOKING FOR ANOTHER STRONG IVY START
Penn visited Hanover last season for the Ivy opener and it was a memorable one as the Big Green came away with a sweep after the three-game series. Down to the final out in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded and trailing 3-2,
Alaana Panu hit a walk-off grand slam in the opening game.
Â
LAST SEASON'S WIN OVER HARVARD
The Big Green were able to steal the first game of the series last season when eventual NCAA Tournament participant Harvard came to the Dartmouth Softball Park as senior
Maria Angelino delivered a walk-off single.
Rachel McCarroll turned in one of the best performances of her career, pitching seven innings with only one earned run against an offense that led the Ivy League in scoring.
Â
HOME OPENER APPROACHING
The Big Green are home for the first time on Tuesday, March 26 when the host Boston College at 3 p.m.
