LONG BEACH, Calif. — The Dartmouth women's tennis team nearly pulled out an exciting road win on Thursday at Long Beach State, but ultimately couldn't overcome losing the doubles point in a 4-3 decision that came down to the final match.
Michela Moore and
Peyton Capuano defeated their Long Beach State opponents at No. 2 doubles, but the Beach climbed back to take the point with victories on Courts 1 and 2.
Katie Weber's quick two-set win at No. 6 singles allowed the Big Green to even the score before
Lexi Dewire put another point on the board with her triumph on Court 3. Beach victories at No. 5 and No. 2 put the Big Green behind the eight ball, but Dartmouth responded with
Elizabeth Fahrmeier's three-set win on Court 4, and the match hinged on the battle between Capuano and Rhona Cook on the top court.
The Big Green begin Ivy League play on Friday, April 5 at Brown.
