HANOVER, N.H. — First-years
Justice Malone and
Jensin Hall of the Dartmouth softball team were recipients of the Ivy League's weekly awards, which were announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office. Malone was named the Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, and Hall landed Pitcher of the Week.
Â
Malone played a key role in the Big Green's doubleheader split with 2023 Ivy League Tournament champion Harvard, hitting better than .700 across both games of the twin bill. She was 3-for-4 at the plate in the opening game, including her first career home run, and was 2-for-3 with a double in the nightcap to help Dartmouth come away with a 3-0 victory.
Â
Hall was dominant in the second game of the doubleheader with a complete-game shutout, in which she allowed just one hit and struck out a career-high 13 batters. 13 marks the highest number of strikeouts for any Ivy League pitcher in a game this season, and Friday's gem was her second complete-game shutout with double-digit strikeouts in the span of just eight days, having previously fanned 11 South Dakota hitters during the Cardinal Classic in Louisville. Hall currently ranks fourth in the nation, and first in the Ivy League, in strikeouts per seven innings (10.7).
Â
The Big Green are back in action on Tuesday, March 26 to host Boston College in the 2024 home opener at 3 p.m.
