HANOVER, N.H. — Following the NFL Draft over the weekend, a pair of Dartmouth football players have been picked up by NFL teams. Cornerback Isaiah Johnson '22 was signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent while safety
Quinten Arello '24 received an invitation to the Tennessee Titans' mini camp.
Johnson graduated from Dartmouth in 2022, earning first team All-Ivy honors during his senior season in 2021. He finished the year eighth in the Ivy League with 6.1 tackles per game and 13th with seven passes defended. He had the longest pick-six by any Ancient Eight player during the season with a 73-yard return to punctuate the 31-7 triumph over No. 16 and previously unbeaten Princeton, earning Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, the Gold Helmet Award and DartmouthSports.com Male Athlete of the Week. Johnson went on to play two years as a graduate student at Syracuse, and was a team captain in 2023 while starting every game of the regular season.
Arello finished his fifth year with the Big Green in the fall, finishing with 37 tackles in nine games. As a senior in 2022, he was named second team All-Ivy and was named to the Division I All-New England Team. Arello also won the Coach Bob Blackman Award in 2022 (as the team MVP) and Kenneth T. Young Award in 2021 (as the defensive underclassman who contributed most to the success of the team).
The Big Green have had several alums sign as undrafted free agents in recent years. Last year, offensive lineman Jake Guidone '21 signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Others in recent years include defensive lineman Niko Lalos '20 and offensive lineman Matt Kaskey '19, both of whom eventually played in the NFL. Other recent undrafted free-agent signings include wide receiver Drew Estrada '20, cornerback Isiah Swann '20, quarterback Jack Heneghan '18, linebacker Folarin Orimolade '17 and safety Charlie Miller '17.
