CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Dartmouth softball team took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth, but couldn't hang on as Harvard scored three late runs to sink the Big Green, 4-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Soldiers Field.

Olivia Schramm's first-inning RBI triple handed the Big Green an early 1-0 lead before the Crimson drew even, getting on the board in the third. The Big Green responded during the next inning as
Ashley Frantz stepped up to the plate in a two-outs, bases-loaded situation and came through with a single to reclaim the lead. That was the last run Dartmouth would push across, and Harvard struck back with a two-run fifth, plus an insurance run in the sixth.

Mary Beth Cahalan matched her career high in hits, going 3-for-4 with a double, accounting for half of the offensive production by the Big Green, who were able to outhit the Crimson at a 6-5 clip. Sophie Sun was 2-for-3 at the plate for Harvard and Lauren Bobowski notched two RBIs.

Rachel McCarroll worked her way out of an early jam in the first and put the Crimson down in order in the second, including two strikeouts, before allowing her first of two earned runs in the third. She would finish with four strikeouts and four walks.

Nicolette Hunter started for Harvard and allowed four hits through three and two thirds innings. Katie Arrambide earned the win in relief, tossing two scoreless innings, and Anna Reed picked up the save.

Now standing at 5-4 in Ivy League play, the Big Green's next challenge comes with a visit to defending regular season champion Princeton beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13.
