THANK YOU, SENIORS!
Dartmouth will honor seniors
Mary Beth Cahalan and
Kelly Beaupre prior to Sunday's game (weather dependent). Both have been significant four-year contributors for the Big Green, each having received an All-Ivy honor at one point in their respective careers.
Â
THE SCENARIOS
The Big Green will clinch a spot in the Ivy League Tournament if one of these three scenarios plays out:
• Dartmouth wins at least two games against Columbia
• Dartmouth wins one game against Columbia and Princeton wins at least one against Cornell
The Big Green will have a share of the Ivy League Championship with three wins and one Princeton loss
Â
WHAT'S AT STAKE
Dartmouth is playing for its first apperance in the four-team Ivy League Tournament, which just began last season. It would be Dartmouth's first postseason appearance since 2018, when the Big Green battled Harvard for an Ivy title. It would also be Dartmouth's fourth regular season Ivy League championship (and first since 2018) if they're able to sweep and get some help from Cornell.
Â
HALL CLOSING IN ON FRESHMAN RECORD
Jensin Hall, currently with an Ivy League-best 149 strikeouts on the season, is just 21 away from topping Christine Quattrocchi '00 for the most strikeouts by a Big Green freshman pitcher in program history. Hall still leads the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (11.4).
Â
CAHALAN'S STELLAR SENIOR SEASON
Mary Beth Cahalan leads the team with a .374 average (if that holds, it'll be one of the 10 best single seasons in program history) and has caught 13 runners stealing - that ranks second in the Ivy League and 16th in the nation.
Â
RECENT SERIES HISTORY
Dartmouth has lost seven of its last nine against Columbia, and if the Big Green can win two or more this weekend, it'll be the first series victory over the Lions since 2018.
