NORTHBROOK, Ill. — Dartmouth football rising senior Micah Green has been named a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The team recognizes college football student-athletes for their unwavering commitment to community service and their "good works" off the field. In addition to being actively involved with a charitable organization or service group, each player must also maintain strong academic standing.
Â
A two-time Ivy League Champion on the field and a champion within the Dartmouth community and beyond for the All-State AFCA Good Works Team. Green currently serves as the co-president of the Dartmouth Black Student Athlete Alliance (DBSAA), after previously holding the position of professional development chair. In these roles,
Green has organized numerous community-building events for Black students, enhancing both their social and professional experiences. His initiatives include bringing in TED Talk speakers, hosting networking events, and offering advanced programming designed to support and empower marginalized groups.
Â
Green's commitment to leadership extends beyond Dartmouth. He has attended the National Black Student Athlete Summit in Los Angeles for the past two years, where he served as a keynote speaker to over 1,200 attendees. His speeches have covered topics such as the Black student-athlete Ivy experience and student activism within the Ivy League, providing compelling insights and calling others to action.
Â
Green's efforts also include organizing the DBSAA Welcome Back Barbecue to ensure that Black student-athletes feel a strong sense of community from the beginning of their college experience. Additionally, he coordinated the DBSAA Field Day, an event where parents and children from the Upper Valley came together for a weekend of community-building, enjoying games, music, and food. The event culminated with Dartmouth football team members giving away signed posters and taking photos with families, creating lasting memories and strengthening community bonds.
Â
In addition to his work with DBSAA, Green has served as the secretary for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., coordinating philanthropic events with other Greek organizations and collaborating with Dartmouth Civics to promote local voting and voter knowledge. With the upcoming presidential election, Green plans to further expand this collaboration. His volunteer efforts also extend to the Upper Valley community, where he has worked at soup kitchens, LISTEN Thrift Stores, and plans to build a shelter for homeless individuals through the non-profit DIGS (Doorways Into Good Shelter) in the fall.
Â
This past May, Green participated with Dartmouth football in registering donors for the NMDP Foundation: Be The Match, a global leader in bone marrow transplantation. He also volunteered a weekend with the Big Green to unload the bi-annual shipment of white pine shavings at Morton Farm, home of Dartmouth equestrian.
Â
Green is one of 178 nominees. The final roster of 23 award recipients announced later in September will bring together 11 players from the NCAA FBS, 11 players from the FCS, Divisions II, III and the NAIA, and one honorary head coach.
