"Really proud of the team's performance," said Taylor Schram the Stacy Branca '94 Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer.
"I think we showed a lot of heart, a lot of fight. Credit to Hofstra for really putting on the pressure with 10 corners and 19 shots. They really came to play on the road on a Sunday game, it's tough to do but they are a good team. For us to pull out a result is great. We handed them their first loss of the season and they've played three other Ivy's so to be the lone Ivy that was able to pull out a result is something that we're really proud of."
In the first half of the match, Hofstra took control of the game, outshooting Dartmouth 11-0. Senior goalkeeper Ally Connors collected four saves to shutout the Pride going into halftime. At the end of the half, both teams remained scoreless, 0-0.
At the start of the second half, the Big Green came out the gate with a powerful presence on the field. In the 46th minute of the game, junior Mary Lundregan took a free kick aiming it toward the Hofstra goal. Heading the ball past the keeper, senior Hannah Curtin scored her first goal of the season, 1-0.
Dartmouth continued to press the Pride and found more shots towards the net. Then, a corner kick opportunity by Hofstra scored the equalizer in the 69th minute, 1-1. The game's intensity picked up as both teams hustled relentlessly to fight for possession. With the ball cleared off by Hofstra, Rorick took a touch outside the box, ripping it to the top right corner of the goal, 2-0. The Big Green sealed the 2-1 victory over the Pride.
