Washington Named Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week

HANOVER, N.H. — Senior Jordan Washington provided the highlight moment of Saturday's dominant 45-13 season-opening win over Fordham, and on Monday, he was recognized with Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Early in the third quarter, the defensive back came around the edge to block a 39-yard Fordham field goal attempt. Washington subsequently scooped it up and went 60 yards for the touchdown. Following the extra point, the Big Green led 31-0.

The blocked field goal was Dartmouth's first since Charles Looes against Princeton last Nov. 3. Two weeks before that Princeton game, the Big Green's Patrick Campbell returned a blocked punt for a touchdown against Columbia.

Seniors Q Jones and Josiah Green were also among the honorable mentions on the Ivy League weekly honor roll, with Jones eclipsing 100 all-purpose yards and Green tying for the team lead in tackles (4) to go with a sack and tackle-for-loss.

The Big Green will now hit the road for the first time when they travel to Merrimack next Saturday to face the Warriors at 1 p.m. Dartmouth returns home in two weeks, hosting Penn as part of the Buddy Teevens Stadium Dedication weekend. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
