"Sarah's expertise and passion for using data to drive performance will elevate the work of our Dartmouth Peak Performance team and strengthen the experience within every varsity program. We are deeply grateful to David for his generosity in making this elevated approach to performance possible. This is an exciting step forward for Dartmouth Athletics and Recreation."
Corkins expressed his belief in the importance of this position for our entire community. "Dartmouth values excellence in athletics, classrooms, departments and research laboratories. This new position will bridge innovative partnerships across these areas to impact performance, and student well-being, on and off the playing fields." The rise of sports analytics, popularized in the "Moneyball" era, transformed professional franchises across North America. Dartmouth is proud to be among the first in college athletics to embrace this wave of innovation. By launching this role, the only of its kind in the Ivy League, Dartmouth has created a strategic asset that will allow varsity programs to turn data into actionable insights from talent identification and development to in-game strategy, to operational efficiency providing a foundation for holistic student-athlete growth. In the past two years, Dartmouth has made strategic investments in DP2, expanding services and staffing that advances Athletics' ability to support student-athletes holistically to benefit team and individual wellness and performance. DP2 has welcomed an Executive Associate Athletics Director for Peak Performance, Austin Driggers, and a Director of Sports Nutrition, Liz Fusco, which makes Dartmouth the only Ivy League institution with two full-time dietitians in athletics. Additionally, the following positions were created to support student-athletes: a Post-Doctoral Fellow for Sport and Counseling Psychology, three new strength and conditioning coaches, including a Director of Olympic Strength and Conditioning, and three new full-time athletic trainers. A search is also underway for a Director of Student-Athlete Professional Development, which along with Deussing's position of Corkins Family Program Manager for Sports Data and Analytics, the only position of its kind in the Ivy League.
"This position demands a rare blend of skills. Sarah combines an infectious passion for sports data, strong technical expertise, and an insatiable intellectual curiosity with an approachable style and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders," Driggers said. "Those qualities set her apart in a very strong candidate pool and will make her a valued teammate across our department."
Beyond the classroom, Deussing served as head manager for the Notre Dame volleyball team from 2022–24, overseeing logistics and technology support as the Fighting Irish won 33 matches.
"Dartmouth represents a rare and powerful convergence of excellent minds, all driven by a shared mission to grow, innovate, and lead," said Deussing. "I believe the best work happens in collaborative environments where people are united by something larger than themselves, and Dartmouth embodies that belief. I'm excited to be part of a community that cares not only about performance on the field, but also about developing leaders, thinkers, and community-minded individuals."
A Pennsylvania native, Deussing also gained professional experience as a data science and technology intern with Raymond James Financial Inc., worked with Notre Dame's Department of Applied & Computational Mathematics, and served as project lead on a dynamic pricing and forecasting initiative for urban mobility in 2025.
