HANOVER, N.H.--Dartmouth Senior Associate Athletics Director for Regulatory Affairs and Recreation, J.B. Weber has been named to the new National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Administrator Council.
The National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA), a non-profit corporation, was created as a governing body to advance the sport of equestrian. The NCEA is responsible for the development and administration of equestrian rules and guidelines. As an emerging sport for women, Equestrian is subject to all NCAA policies and procedures in the same manner as other sports. The new NCEA Administrator Council oversees all aspects of the NCEA while also having standing committees for critical areas within the advancement of equestrian.
Weber will also serve on both the Scheduling and Selection Committee in addition to the Enforcement, Ethics and Education Committee, while being the ECAC Single Discipline representative for the NCEA. Weber brings his almost two decades of compliance and regulatory affairs experience to the Enforcement, Ethics and Education Committee. His work on the scheduling and Selection Committee will include participating in the selection process for both the NCEA Single and Dual Discipline National Championships.
"I am overjoyed to be entrusted with the opportunity to help shape the future of the NCEA and collegiate Women's Equestrian. While at Charleston, I remember being on calls several years ago, with the NCEA leadership hearing their vision for the future of NCEA and especially on the single discipline side. Much of that vision has become a reality. The NCEA competition format is both accessible and exciting for sports fans. Â The NCEA coaches have poised the sport for growth and now is time for the next step" Weber added.
Weber first engaged with the NCEA leadership, during his time at the College of Charleston, where he supported that program's transition to the NCEA single discipline level. Weber currently serves as the sport administrator for Equestrian at Dartmouth. With his latest appointment, he will work with administrators from across the NCEA to help promote and advance collegiate equestrian.
In 2024-25, Dartmouth won its first NCEA Single Discipline National Championship since joining the organization ahead of the 2021-22 season.
"I look forward to being able to help shape the administrative structures and governance of the NCEA to prepare the sport to mature and emerge into NCAA Championship status."
