Women's Tennis Drops Neutral Site Match To App State

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The Dartmouth women's tennis team took on Applanation State on Saturday afternoon to start its trip to North Carolina. The Big Green fell 4-1 to App State in a neutral site match at the University of Charlotte.

Doubles

Peyton Capuano and Michela Moore were paired up in first doubles on Saturday but fell 6-1 to their counterparts from App State.

Elizabeth Fahrmeier and Elise Wong played second doubles on Saturday. The duo won three games but could not earn a win for the Big Green. App State took the doubles point with a 6-3 win.

Sam Grosjean and Brooke Hess were trailing 4-3 in third doubles when the match was stopped due to App State taking the doubles point.

Singles

Grosjean earned the lone point for the Big Green in third singles. She won the first set of her match 6-3 but then fell 6-4 in the second set. In the third set, the first-year notched her fourth win of the season with a 6-2 win in the third set.

Capuano played in first singles on Saturday. She fell 6-4 in the opening set but responded with a 7-5 win in the second set to force a third. In the third set she fell 6-3.

Moore was slotted second singles and recovered to forced a third set after falling 6-0 in the opening set. She won the second set 7-5 but dropped the third set 6-3.

Wong played sixth singles and fell 6-1, 6-0 as she moves to 2-2 in the spring.

Lauren Han played fourth singles was locked in a close match when the match was called. She won the first 7-6 and was deep into the third set when the match ended.

Caroline Lemcke was also deep into a three set match in fifth singles. She fell 6-3 in the first set but responded with a 7-5 win in the second set.

The Big Green look to rebound on Sunday as they take on Charlotte at 1 PM.
