HANOVER, N.H.—For the second straight season, the Dartmouth equestrian team is heading to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Single Discipline Championship. The Big Green earned the fourth seed in the national championship.
Dartmouth will take on Lynchburg in the first semifinal at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla., the tournament is set to begin on April 17.
Head Coach and Director of Riding, Tenley Walsh is excited for her team but knows last years' experience will be key for the Big Green. "Four of our six riders are returning to nationals from last year's team, and we're going to lean on them. They've been there and rode well."
The Big Green is coming off an ECAC Championship in which they finished second. Dartmouth is 5-4 overall this season including a 5-2 record against single discipline teams. Four members of the Big Green were named to the All-ECAC Team while Samantha Takacs was named Fences Rider of the Year.
"Collectively, it was the entire team that got us to this point. Two more team efforts is what we're looking for to finish the season."
Should the Big Green advance they will take on the winner of No. 2 Sweet Briar and No. 3 Charleston in the single discipline national championship.
