HANOVER, N.H. – A number of former Dartmouth football players were invited to National Football League mini camps, signing as undrafted free agents or receiving rookie mini camp invitations, and have been active as the NFL season quickly approaches.
Â
Here's a list of those signing after the NFL Draft:
Tyron Herring – Green Bay Packers (Undrafted Free Agent)
Macklin Ayers – Cleveland Browns (Rookie Mini Camp Invite)
Shane Cokes – Denver Broncos (Rookie Mini Camp Invite)
Â
Herring enjoyed a breakthrough senior season at Dartmouth in 2022, earning fourth team All-Ivy by Phil Steele. He finished his career at Delaware by garnering honorable mention All-CAA in 2023 and second team All-CAA in 2024. Herring played in 17 games in three seasons for the Big Green, recording 49 tackles (33 solo), an interception, tackle for loss and four passes defended.
Â
Ayers spent three seasons at Dartmouth, graduating in 2024 before spending last season at UMass. With the Big Green, Ayers posted 165 tackles (68 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, an interception and five passes defended. As a junior, he led the Ivy League in tackles per game with ten. He was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy.
Â
Cokes was a two-time All-Ivy honoree, being named to the second team in both 2021 and 2022. Cokes was a team captain with the Big Green, finishing with 54 tackles (most among Ivy League defensive linemen) while ranking in the top 10 in the league in both tackles for loss (8.5, ninth) and sacks (4.5, seventh). He went on to play two seasons at Colorado where he was given the L on his jersey to designate him as a team leader. He played in all 22 games over his two seasons with the Buffaloes.
Â
Also, Isaiah Johnson spent his first professional season on the Miami Dolphins' practice squad and has returned to the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent. In addition, veteran Niko Lalos, who has seen time with the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints, was with the Philadelphia Eagles during mini camp this year.
