Bowman and Baldvinsson Named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week

HANOVER, N.H.—Ella Bowman of Dartmouth field hockey and Eidur Baldvinsson of men's soccer have been named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male athlete or team, one female athlete or team– as Athletes of the Week.

Ella Bowman, Jr., Aldeburgh, England, Field Hockey

Ella Bowman had a standout weekend as Dartmouth went 1-1 with a win over Maine on Friday. In the win against Maine, the defender scored a pair of goals including a stroke goal and a overtime game winning goal coming off a penalty corner. On Sunday, she tallied an assist on a corner to give Dartmouth a 2-0 lead over No. 14 UMass. Through three games she had three goals and an assist to start her junior season.

Eidur Baldvinsson, So., Garðabær, Iceland, Men's Soccer

Eidur Baldvinsson had a standout performance for the Big Green last week. The sophomore forward scored two goals against the reigning national champions and nationally ranked No. 13 Vermont. In the 53rd minute, Trenton Blake sent the ball downfield to Baldvinsson who beat a defender and was in alone with the goalkeeper. He was patient with the ball, beating out the Catamounts keeper to score his first goal of the game and season. Less than ten minutes later, Baldvinsson found himself in a battle with the defense. He sensed the Catamounts defender would make a mistake and capitalized, putting the Big Green up by two goals. Baldvinsson's two goals against Vermont matched his 2024 goal total.
