Women's cross country places third in season opener

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Dartmouth women's cross country team opened its season on Friday at the Friar Invitational hosted by Providence on Friday, finishing third overall.Â
"It was a solid opener for both the men and women at the Friar invite.  Mia and Ashton did a great job of leading us. It was a great opportunity to see the course that will host the Ivy League championships in 2026," Nelson said. "Our next meet will be the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invite at home on Sept. 20. We look forward to a great race in front of friends, family and alumni! Go Big Green!"Â
Mia Compton-Engle paced the Big Green, finishing in ninth place with a 14:56.6 mark. Andie Murray placed 16th with a 15:15.8 finish. Katherine Strong finished shortly behind in 18th place with a 15:16.8 mark.Â
Esme Daplyn crossed fourth for the Big Green, finishing 20th overall with a time of 15:22.4. Julia Pye closed out scoring for Dartmouth with her 25th-place finish. Annie Pflaum, Erin Karas and Hannah Kaercher also competed for the Big Green.Â
The Big Green will return home on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they host the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational.
