HANOVER, N.H.  — Cornell jumped out to a 19-6 lead after one quarter, which proved too much for the Dartmouth women's basketball team to overcome in a 61-52 loss on Saturday afternoon inside Leede Arena. The Big Green outscored the Big Red 24-17 in the fourth, but it wasn't enough.

Three Dartmouth players finished with double-figure points, led by 12 from Cate MacDonald along with 10 each from Alexandra Eldredge and Zeynep Ozel. The Big Green shot 38.9% from the floor, but just 16.7% from 3-point range.

Cornell also had three in double figures, led by 14 from Emily Pape.

The loss drops Dartmouth's record to 9-6 and 0-2 in the Ivy League while Cornell improves to 6-8 and 2-0 in conference play.

The Big Green now hit the road for their next three games, beginning with showdowns at Princeton and Penn next weekend.

FIRST QUARTER:
It was all Cornell early as the Big Red quickly turned a 3-2 edge into a 13-4 advantage behind a 10-2 run.
A MacDonald jumper got Dartmouth within 13-6, but six straight Cornell points to end the half gave the Big Red a 19-6 lead after the first quarter.
SECOND QUARTER:
Dartmouth inched closer in the second quarter, holding a slim 11-10 edge for the stanza.
A 3-pointer from Eldredge got the Big Green within 10 at 23-13, but Cornell opened a 29-17 halftime lead.
THIRD QUARTER:
Cornell's lead reached a game-high 17 in the third on two occasions.
Ozel and Olivia Austin each scored four points in the quarter, but it wasn't enough to combat Cornell's 15-11 advantage in the stanza.
The Big Green entered the fourth trailing, 44-28.
FOURTH QUARTER:
Dartmouth began the fourth on an 8-2 run as a MacDonald layup got the Big Green within 46-36 with 7:36 on the clock.
The ensuing minutes saw Dartmouth get within nine on multiple occasions, but couldn't get any closer until the final minute.
Sierra Carson converted a layup with 50 seconds remaining to pull within 55-48, but that's as close as the Big Green would come. Cornell was 6-of-6 from the free throw line down the stretch to wrap up the victory.
