Goebel and Sheppard/Cairns Named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week

HANOVER, N.H. - Ola Goebel of Dartmouth women's soccer and Benjamin Sheppard and Finn Cairns of Dartmouth sailing have been named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will highlight exceptional student-athletes – one male athlete or team, one female athlete or team – as Athletes of the Week.

Ola Goebel, Senior, Evanston, Ill., Goalkeeper
Goebel was impressive in goal for the Big Green in their 1-0 victory over #19 Harvard. Goebel made five saves against the Crimson, which included a huge penalty kick save in the 83rd minute, to secure the victory for Dartmouth and to snap the Crimson's seven-game win streak. Also, It was the eighth shutout of the season for Goebel.

Benjamin Sheppard, Senior, Riverside, Conn., Helm
Finn Cairns, Sophomore, Minneapolis, Minn., Crew
At the Hewitt Trophy, hosted by Bowdoin College, Sheppard and Cairns were excellent in races 8-12. Over that stretch, they went first, fifth, second, and first again. They averaged 5.6, with five top-three finishes.
