NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Dartmouth women's track and field team opened competition at the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships on Saturday at The Armory, highlighted by a scoring performance in the long jump and multiple automatic qualifiers for finals.
Mariella Schweitzer delivered one of the top performances of the meet for the Big Green in the long jump, placing third and scoring six points with a mark of 6.29m (20-7.75). The jump ranks No. 39 in NCAA Division I this season and broke a program record for the Big Green, marking a key podium finish for Dartmouth.
On the track, Jada Jones advanced to the finals in the 60 meters, clocking 7.50 in the prelims to earn an automatic qualifying spot. Jones also competed in the 200 meters, posting a time of 24.48.
In the 400 meters, Veronika Simova recorded a personal best of 56.35 to secure a spot in the finals, while Andie Murray automatically qualified in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:08.26 in prelim action.
Esme Daplyn earned an automatic berth to the mile final after running 2:50.97 in her preliminary heat, and Annamaria Bacchetta notched a personal best of 4:58.38 in the mile. The Big Green saw additional personal best performances from Schweitzer in the 60-meter hurdles (8.43), Rebeka Zibritova in the 60 hurdles (8.61), Julia Pye in the 500 meters (1:18.00), and Imogen Brown in the 1000 meters (2:19.00). In the 3000 meters, Claire McDonald crossed in 10:02.26, while Ellison Weiner cleared 3.53m (11-7.00) in the pole vault.
Noe Kemper led the way on the oval, earning an automatic berth to the 800-meter final with a time of 1:51.19 to place third overall in prelims. In the mile,
Callahan Fielder secured an automatic qualifying spot after clocking 4:11.70 in his heat.
Liam Murray advanced to the 400-meter final with a time of 47.78 to earn a qualifying spot, while
Connor Foley posted a 2:25.26 in the 1000 meters to move on to the final.
The Big Green saw several personal-best efforts in the sprint events. Winston Morgan ran a personal-best 48.36 in the 400 meters after also competing in the 200 (21.81), and
Jack Rousseau added a personal-best 48.76 in the 400.
In the field, Colton McMaster delivered a scoring performance in the weight throw, placing fourth with a season-best mark of 20.08m (65-10.50) to earn four team points.
Jack Tan added a point in the pole vault with a sixth-place clearance of 4.85m (15-11.00), while Samuel Starrs followed closely behind at 4.70m (15-5.00).
Ivan Ochoa Lynch recorded a personal best of 15.96m in the weight throw, and Brad Chosewood posted a mark of 16.06m.
The heptathlon proved to be a major bright spot for Dartmouth, as Jack Intihar put together an outstanding day across three events. He won the high jump with a season-best 1.98m (6-6.00), placed second in the long jump at 7.13m (23-4.75), and added a third-place finish in the shot put with a season-best throw of 11.81m (38-9.00). Intihar also clocked 6.95 in the 60 meters, positioning himself firmly in contention heading into the final day of competition.
