Four from Women’s Tennis Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – On Tuesday, College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced its women's tennis Academic All-District honorees, recognizing four Dartmouth student-athletes.

To qualify, students must be at least a sophomore with a 3.50 grade point average and play in 75% of their team's spring matches. This year, juniors Peyton Capuano and Michela Moore and sophomores Sam Grosjean and Elise Wong earned the recognition for the Big Green.

Capuano, a government major, wraps her impressive junior campaign with yet another postseason honor. She posted a 12-4 singles record, primarily at the first position, and a 15-3 doubles record. She has won three of her five Ivy League singles matches. Capuano started the spring season with five straight singles wins, defeating Boston College, Fordham, Boston University, Penn and Cornell in the ECAC Indoor Championship.

In doubles play, Capuano won the same five matches straight, going undefeated from January 23 through February 7. She again won five straight from February 21 through March 18. She had one match go unfinished before adding two more wins to make it seven straight doubles matches without a loss. In Ivy League play, Capuano earned wins over Penn, Yale and Brown. Capuano also earned her 50th career doubles win and 100th overall win.

Moore, an economics major, was also impressive this spring, posting an 11-6 singles record, primarily at the second position, and a 15-3 doubles record alongside Capuano at the first position. Moore started the season with four straight singles wins, defeating Army, Boston College, Fordham and BU. She also defeated BIG10 opponent Michigan State, took two wins in California, and won two of her Ivy League contests.
In doubles play, Moore won five matches straight, going undefeated from January 23 through February 7. She again won five straight from February 21 through March 18. She had one match go unfinished before adding two more wins to make it seven straight doubles matches without a loss. Moore also earned her 50^th career doubles win and 100^th overall win in green.

Grosjean played in 19 matches during the spring season, competing in 19 singles events and 18 doubles events. She posted an 11-4 record in singles play and a 14-4 record in doubles play. In singles, Grosjean won nine straight early in the season, including winning all her matches at the ECAC Indoor Championship. In doubles play, she earned a 14-4 record, notably going 6-1 in the Ivy League.

Finally, Wong, a neuroscience major, played in 19 of the Big Green's 22 matches during the spring season, posting a 9-5 overall record, mainly playing at third singles alongside Josephine Lombardi. The sophomore also played at second doubles, earning wins over Stony Brook, Colgate, and Cal State Fullerton. In Ivy League play, Elise earned doubles wins over Princeton and Cornell and had two additional matches suspended.

This is Capuano and Moore's second straight CSC Academic All-District recognition while Grosjean and Wong take home their first each.
