Women’s Soccer Opens 2026 With 2-1 Victory Over UMass Lowell

HANOVER, N.H. — The defending Ivy League Tournament champion Dartmouth women's soccer team opened the 2026 season on Thursday, Aug. 20, at Burnham Field with a 2-1 triumph over the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Dartmouth moved to 7-1-1 all-time against the River Hawks, and UMass Lowell remains winless at Burnham Field in a series that began in 2013.
Emmanuella Frimpomaa and Nadia Young recorded goals for the Big Green, who held a 14-8 advantage in shots over the River Hawks.

The Big Green got on the scoreboard early; Maeve Theobald beat multiple defenders down the right side of the field, then crossed the ball to Frimpomaa, who scored Dartmouth's first goal of 2026 with 37:37 on the clock. The Big Green took a 2-0 advantage shortly after, when Young drilled a goal from well beyond the top of the circle with 32:07 on the clock.
Dartmouth was unlucky not to find the back of the net again in the first half, as it recorded a 10-2 advantage in shots and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
The second half saw the River Hawks show fight, scoring their first goal with 32:55 remaining and making it a 2-1 match. However, Dartmouth was able to hold on and earn the win with a 2-1 final score.
