HANOVER, N.H. – First-year Tasha Udebhulu scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the 75th minute, breaking a scoreless deadlock and lifting the Dartmouth women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Holy Cross on Thursday, Sept. 10, afternoon at Burnham Field.

The Big Green took the lead in the all-time series, 7-6, and won its fifth consecutive match over the Crusaders.

Goalkeeper Ola Goebel backstopped the shutout with a save in a full 90 minutes of work, while Emmanuella Frimpomaa and Michal Cagungun each fired three shots to lead the Big Green offensively. Dartmouth finished with an 11-10 edge in shots and a decisive 5-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Dartmouth and Holy Cross played to a stalemate for the majority of the match, with the Crusaders holding a 6-3 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes. Adilin Botet tested the Big Green early, firing a shot wide in the first minute and again in the third, while Abigail Cushing had a look in the eighth minute for the home side. Dartmouth settled in and began generating its own chances, with Frimpomaa firing wide from the top right in the eighth minute. The half also featured a physical edge, with fouls whistled from both sides throughout, and Holy Cross was issued a yellow card at the stroke of halftime.

Dartmouth came out of the break with far more urgency, out-shooting Holy Cross 8-4 in the second half. Cagungun fired a shot from the right in the 55th minute, then forced back-to-back saves from the Crusaders' goalkeeper in the 62nd minute with two attempts from bottom center. Madison Rose also had Dartmouth pressing with a shot in the 66th minute before the Big Green finally broke through. In the 75th minute, with Dartmouth continuing to push, Udebhulu found herself in the right spot in front of goal and buried her first career goal, sending the Big Green bench into celebration and putting Dartmouth ahead 1-0.

Holy Cross searched for an equalizer down the stretch, firing a shot on target in the 77th minute, but Goebel was there to make the save and preserve the shutout. Madison Rose forced one more save from Mila in the 82nd minute at the other end, but the score held from there, sending Dartmouth to 4-1-2 on the season while Holy Cross fell to 4-2-1.
