TUCSON, AZ. – Dartmouth women's soccer drew with Arizona State, 1-1 in the first game of the Cactus Classic. Madison Rose scored the first goal of her collegiate career, as goalkeeper Ola Goebel recorded four saves against Arizona State.
In the first half, right from the start, the Sun Devils pressured the Big Green, but Ola Goebel and the defense kept the score even at zero. Dartmouth steadily worked their way through the competitive run of play, where in the 31st minute, Madison Rose had the first shot on goal.
The momentum shifted into the favor of the Big Green, as with four minutes left in the half, they were awarded a penalty kick. Madison Rose stepped up to the penalty spot and blasted a shot into the net, to score the first goal of her collegiate career and allowed the Big Green to take the 1-0 lead before halftime.
In the second half, Arizona State looked to make a comeback against the Big Green. However, Dartmouth stayed in control, to hold on to their one-goal lead. The Sun Devils didn't go away as they created more chances to score as time ticked down. With less than a second left on the clock, Arizona State found the back of the net, to tie the game, 1-1.
