Women's Soccer Defeats Arizona, 1-0 in the Final Game of the Cactus Classic

TUCSON, AZ. - Dartmouth women's soccer defeated the University of Arizona, 1-0 in the final game of the Cactus Classic on Sunday afternoon. The Big Green secured the victory with a huge goal by Michal Cagungun and a strong performance by Ola Goebel in goal, with five saves. This is the first victory for the Big Green over a Power Four opponent since 2019, when Dartmouth defeated Syracuse, 2-0 at Burnham Field. In addition, this is the first Power Four victory for Stacy Branca '94 Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer, Taylor Schram.

In the first half, Dartmouth worked fast and quick to get on the board, as they got the first corner kick of the game in the 11th minute and less than a minute later, Michal Cagungun found the back of the net and got the Big Green on the board.

From there, the Wildcats were looking to make a comeback and had chances on goal; but Dartmouth stayed in the lead for the remainder of the half.

In the second half, Arizona continued to be consistent on the offensive end as they looked to find the back of the net. Ola Goebel and the Big Green defense held on strong, as Goebel finished the game with five saves made, all in the second half of play. As time ticked down, the Wildcats had one more chance at goal but Goebel made a massive save, to clinch the 1-0 huge, victory over Arizona in the final game of the Cactus Classic.
